The East Walker
The East Walker River is now open to fishing all year around. Please note there are special regulations during certain times of year.
The East Walker River is far and away the best place to fish for trophy sized trout and carp in our region. It is considered one of the best tailwater fisheries in the state of California. There are fish hooked in this river well in excess of 25” and there is a good population of fat brown and rainbow trout that run 16”-20”.
The East Walker can be a challenging river for any angler. The fish have a lot to choose from bug wise. Like most tailwater fisheries, the presentation, drift, fly pattern selection and timing of the hatch will be determining factors. On the East Walker, everything gets tested including your knots and ability to respond under pressure.
